On a pirate adventure

While waiting for the raft to take us to the Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's island, a pirate came to join us. He needed to get to the Island, too, and he showed us the secret writing on the maps of the island (if you hold it just right in the sunlight the hidden treasure map shows up - X marks the spot). On the raft he offered his purse cleaning services to one of the ladies, and got after two men who were talking on their cell phones to "just be a man and talk to each other face to face instead of hiding on the phone." An hour later when we left the island we saw him again, and he remembered Christie's name. He informed us that Jack Sparrow was on the island and, though he admitted Jack might be better looking that he was, he warned us that Jack smelled worse and we should stand upwind of him if we found him.
