Aalholm - the queen's home?

According to what the pastor of the Nysted church told us, Aalholm was where the widowed queens were sent. They were not allowed to stay in the palace after the king died, so this was their castle. I have not been able to document that anywhere else, so maybe he was just telling us stories.
