This is Pete Schupp (Number 7 of the Schupp Clan). You may have seen a couple of our photos on the new web sight. My wife (Neth) and I live in Yokosuka Japan while I am stationed aboard the USS KITTY HAWK (CV63). We have one son, Chris, who currently lives in Hawaii. The "Battle Cat," as we affectionately call her, is a "Classic" Conventional Aircraft Carrier with a 280,000 horsepower propulsion plant with a Max speed of 32+ knots while launching some of the most advanced aircraft the Navy has. She is now about 45 years young (almost the same as I) and requires the same tender loving care as a 1961 Corvette (that's when she was commissioned). If you are interested the ship's website is
I've been in the Navy 21 years now and will be promoted from Commander to Captain on the first of April of this year. Early next summer I will complete my current tour as Chief Engineer onboard the Battle Cat and it looks like I will probably be transferred to Norfolk, Virginia (again). We have lived in many,
many places since I was Commissioned in 1984 including San Diego and Monterey, Ca, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (twice), Norfolk Virginia, Jacksonville Florida, Seattle, Washington, and now Yokosuka, Japan. It has been Mr. Toad’s wild ride for
those of you familiar with one of the original Disney rides (we just went to Tokyo Disneyland last week and it is almost an exact duplicate of the original, cool).
While it will be impossible for Neth and I to help plan a reunion from here we will certainly try to attend. Much will depend upon my transfer date from the ship which I hope to negotiate for June of 2006. If I'm stuck "floating and boating" in the Sea of Japan though, Neth and I will certainly be there in spirit.
